At a recent meeting of the District Council’s Climate Task Group, we gained their support for an approach by Councillor Roger Shelley to re engaging the senior management at Forged Solutions regarding Big Solar Coop’s offer to install one of the largest solar arrays in Derbyshire.
I’m delighted to report that at a joint meeting Roger and Steve Martin held with Simon Pickering the General Manager on Tuesday 23 January we were informed that the company wished to proceed with the development of a power purchase agreement(PPA) with the Big Solar Coop. In summary the company is willing to sign up to a PPA for 25 years with a break clause after 5 years. The estimated savings for the company in 20 years is just over £1.2 million and an annual carbon saving of 90tCO2e.
We believe that the involvement of the local council has added further credibility and authenticity to Derbyshire Dales Community Energy’s approach to one of the largest employers in the District
